Two weeks to go to Tanzania and I still feel unprepared, that I know nothing and have little idea what to do next. On Christmas Eve Day I decided to learn Swahili everyday for 30 minutes, and guess what… yep, you’re right. Today is 6th January 2014 when I’m working on my second lesson…

My source no. 1. Short, well-arranged thematic sections, easy to use. Games definitely help to memorize new vocabulary.

Absolute must-watch! GREAT youtube channel for those wanting to learn conversational Swahili. LOVE IT. I recommend it with all my heart

10 facts, key phrases and the alphabet.
Really interesting facts, useful audio phrases to download or listen to online.

Easy, short, three minutes length youtube lessons. Free version contains little content, but there are some useful cultural tips to learn.

Of course there are myriads of other, probably even better resources to learn Swahili, but I already know from my experience that the more sources you have, the more difficult it is to use them effectively, so I’m going to stick to this four and supplement it with other sources from time to time.

The sample combination of online resources to learn about colors:

2. Repeat HERE

3. Test your knowledge HERE

4. Write down the words on a piece of paper. Hide it in your pocket. Repeat tomorrow on the way to work or school 🙂

Good luck!
